5+1 Ways to Make Your Ferry Trip Easier and Safer

This summer is definitely different from all the previous ones. Transportation for most is limited and, due to the mandatory use of masks on ships, there were many who preferred closer islands for their holidays in order to limit their stay on board. In addition, itineraries this summer were significantly less than in previous years, which in combination with the limited availability, made it difficult for many to find a ticket. However, we at NISEA are here to help make your trip more comfortable and easy, and because proper planning is important for a successful trip, we present 5 + 1 ways to help you avoid unnecessary hassle, especially this year that are all more mindful due to the circumstances.

1. The e-ticket is the revolution in passenger shipping!

How many times have you wasted your time waiting in line at the agency to pick up printed tickets? How many times have you been obliged to make special arrangements and plans in order to give the printed tickets to your fellow travelers for whom you bought them? How many times have you lost or forgotten your printed (and irreplaceable!) tickets so you have to buy new ones, and many times without getting back the money from your original tickets? With the e-ticket all this is in the past and your life becomes much easier! Apart from the time you save and the unnecessary hassle you avoid, this year with the e-ticket you no longer have to wait in line at the agency with your mask, nor exchange papers and tickets with others. Most companies now support e-ticket and the process is very simple: before your trip, you find your reservation on the application, and by selecting check-in, the shipping company issues you the electronic ticket which is sent to you by e-mail or SMS. It is not necessary to print it, while you can also send it to those who travel with you, very easily.

2. Track your ferry and save time

Ship delays are a common occurrence, either due to weather conditions, due to increased traffic in ports, or due to technical problems that may arise. In any case, you can now avoid the unnecessary waiting in the ports waiting for the ship that is often late. Through tracking at NISEA you are in control, since you can now see live the location of your ferry and at what time it will arrive. Of course, you can also use tracking during your trip, since you no longer need to calculate or ask the crew for the estimated time of arrival at your destination – you can simply see it at any time on the application (Track section)!

3. Find out which ships have open decks

It is reasonable in such conditions when it is requested to avoid crowded and closed spaces, that many people will prefer ferries with open-air decks for their voyage. We at NISEA make buying your ticket an even easier process, and provide you with information on which ships have open-air decks, in case you want to prioritize them while booking your tickets. Thus, in the search results in the application, in the lower right part of each result there is a special indication that implies that the ship has open-air decks.

If you want to book a ticket with an open-deck ferry, you can look at the special indication.

4. Do not forget, wearing a mask is mandatory!

The mask has now become an integral part of our daily lives, and ferry trips could not be an exception. It is therefore important that all passengers wear a mask before boarding the ship and throughout the voyage. For more information on the new ship regulations due to the pandemic, you can refer to our blog post.

The use of a mask and the pre-boarding form are now necessary for the safety of all passengers.

5. Print the pre-boarding form at your home

In addition to the mask, it is now necessary for passengers boarding ferries to complete the pre-boarding form. This form is intended to inform passengers in the event that a coronavirus case is found after the journey. As part of limiting our exposure to hazards, it is useful to print the form before the trip so that we do not have to go to the port agency to pick it up. You can, in fact, find the form through the application, in your reservations (Travel section).

And do not forget, when you make a reservation through NISEA, it is saved in the Travel section, so you can find all the details of your trip at any time without having to look for the reservation in the endless emails you receive every day! This way, you can rest assured that you will not lose your reservation code again and you can make your trip even more carefree.
